About Occupy & Demand

Occupy & Demand is built in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street and Occupy Together. It is a platform designed to centralize the demands of the national Occupy activist movement. The platform allows users to make demands and vote on those made by others.

We hope this tool will be used to better reflect the collective will of Occupy activists around the country, and that people will use this platform to articulate their demands.

Occupy & Demand Mission

The purpose of this site is to provide the Occupy Together movement with a central platform through which to make demands, submit those demands to a public vote, and create an interactive index therein. Outside the site's raw functionality, we hope to better reflect the movement's most popular and widely accepted goals.

That said, the purpose of this platform isn't to declare any particular demands on the behalf of the Occupy movement-- the opinions expressed on this site do not apply to all Occupy Together supporters (we'd love it if we could reliably reach consensus on this site, but that's just not possible). Rather, Occupy & Demand asks what Occupationalists consider to be the terms of their unrest, and gives other Occupationalists a chance to interact with those demands.

We hope that this tool will be adopted and used by protesters around the United States to better articulate their most widely accepted goals and put the focus on collective demands.

We have disabled comments on demands for this site. A better outlet for discussion of particular issues are forums such as http://www.occupytogether.org/discuss/ or http://occupywallst.org/forum/.
